Job Description

The External Shop Technician is responsible in maintaining customer service standards through a safe and efficient operation, while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards. The External Shop Technician is directly responsible for the development of external sales and relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer merchandise, questions, comments, requests, and complaints.
  • Effectively works in a team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
  • Directly responsible in the development and achievement of confidential external sales and budget objectives in the areas of sales, margins, expenses, profits and EHP.
  • Performs duties in an organized manner with accuracy and attention to detail, maintaining confidentiality of information at all times.
  • Assist the supervisor to ensure the work environment is operating in accordance with company policies, procedures and programs.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the supervisor regarding recommendations for continued improvement of the operations. Where necessary, develop and administer action plans for desired results.
  • Conducts all technical repairs of equipment, assembly of new equipment and installation of bathroom safety products. Will assist with the installation of stair, porch and ceiling lifts. Assist in the overall operation of the shop and service area. This will be done in accordance to manufacturers’ specification, guidelines and warranty programs. This may require the manufacturer’s certification for specific equipment.
  • Assist the supervisor in overseeing the management of the AADL recycle program, maintenance of company vehicles, and the maintenance of all rental equipment and the cleanliness of the service department.
  • Establish and maintain a strong, efficient, and productive working relationship with approved professionals, business organizations and internal/external company representatives.
  • Assist in the administration of the repair and billing of merchandise, inventory control, purchase orders, price integrity, quotes and all administrative areas not specifically referred to in this document.
  • Be a liaison and public relations representative for the company within the communities you serve.
  • Assist in the ordering of products and supplies, assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
  • Adhere to all government and professional standards and regulations as they apply to the Home Health Care Industry.
  • Ensure daily functions are carried out in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Provide training to new shop technicians. Provide verbal and written reports to the supervisor on the status of training progress as required.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) including participate in OH&S activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation, assist in identifying unhealthy, unsafe situations and ensure corrective action is taken. Ensure all staff are adhering to safety rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • One-year technical service experience.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Insurable drivers abstract

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Professional trade destination.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • One-year sales experience.
