External Engagement Projects Officer

• Employment Type: Full Time (35 hours per week)
• Duration: 12-month contract
• Remuneration: Level 6 from $108,021 - $115,233 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
• Location: UNSW Kensington Campus, NSW (minimum of 3 days required on campus)

Why Your Role Matters

This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of alumni and external engagement within UNSW Engineering.

As the External Engagement Projects Officer, you will support initiatives that strengthen connections between the faculty, its graduates, industry partners and wider community. You will work closely with colleagues across the faculty’s schools and UNSW’s central alumni team to develop communications, digital content, events, databases and engagement activities that build lasting, mutually beneficial relationships.

You will also contribute to enhancing the faculty’s profile and ensuring engagement activities align with the UNSW Progress for All Strategy and broader faculty goals.

The role reports to the Senior External Engagement Manager and has no direct reports.

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate the identification and profiling of priority alumni across the faculty’s schools.
• Help shape and deliver alumni and external engagement initiatives.
• Act as a key point of contact for alumni and respond to enquiries promptly.
• Work with faculty stakeholders and UNSW’s central alumni team to deliver aligned engagement activities.
• Develop content for the UNSW Engineering website, email communications and other digital channels.
• Maintain alumni records and use CRM and database systems responsibly.
• Measure engagement outcomes and support faculty reporting.
• Assist with events, graduation activities and priority projects.
• Provide general project and administrative support to the External Engagement Team.

Who you are

You are a proactive communications, marketing or relationship-management professional with a genuine interest in people and community building. Alumni experience is welcome but not essential; more important is your ability to build relationships, coordinate projects and help shape a growing area of engagement.

You will bring:

• Relevant qualifications and experience in communications, marketing, relationship management or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating content, managing websites and delivering email communications.
• Strong stakeholder-engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Experience coordinating projects that increase audience outreach or engagement.
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute as part of a team.
• Experience with CRM systems, databases, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
• Flexibility to undertake occasional after-hours work and work on campus at least three days each week.
