At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an External Engagement Advisor at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the next generation of talent entering the defence, aerospace and engineering sectors. Working at the heart of our Naval Nuclear business, you'll directly contribute to developing the future workforce needed to support critical national infrastructure and defence programmes.

As an External Engagement Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll lead the development and delivery of engagement initiatives that educate, inspire and attract future talent. This highly visible role combines relationship building, event management, community engagement and strategic planning, giving you the opportunity to make a lasting impact across schools, colleges, universities and local communities.

Day-to-day you'll be required to:

  • Developing long-term partnerships with schools, colleges, universities and community organisations to promote STEM careers and opportunities.
  • Conducting reviews of existing engagement activities and implementing sustainable outreach programmes across the west coast of Scotland.
  • Creating, delivering and evaluating talent attraction, careers and STEM initiatives, measuring impact and identifying future priorities.
  • Coordinating engagement activities across the business, acting as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance and support to education partners to enhance STEM learning outcomes and careers awareness.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and provides hybrid working arrangements. Travel to schools, events and other stakeholder locations will be expected. Occasional out-of-hours attendance at events may be required, with time off in lieu provided.

Essential experience of the External Engagement Advisor

  • Experience building relationships and engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience developing and delivering careers events, networking activities, training programmes or outreach initiatives.
  • Knowledge or experience within education, early careers, talent development or STEM engagement environments.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
