  • Manage relationships with finance directors and audit committees throughout the audit cycle.
  • Support engagement leaders on risk acceptance, scoping and engagement economics across the portfolio.
  • Prepare the file and the firm for FRC Audit Quality Review (AQR) inspection and internal quality monitoring.
  • Coach managers and seniors, building technical capability and ICAEW or ACCA progression within the team.
  • Contribute to practice development, including proposals, scoping and conversion of referral leads.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Chartered Accountant, ACA with the ICAEW, or ACCA-qualified, in good standing.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in external audit at senior manager level and above.
  • Strong working knowledge of the International Standards on Auditing (UK) and UK-adopted IFRS.
  • Experience auditing entities listed on the London Stock Exchange and an understanding of their reporting obligations.
  • Sound understanding of the FRC's role as audit regulator and of AQR inspection expectations.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently to deadline and budget.
  • Strong grasp of independence, ethics and quality management requirements for UK audit firms.
  • Confident communicator able to deal directly with senior client finance teams and audit committees.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Track record of developing and retaining audit staff.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience within a mid-tier or larger firm with a substantial public-interest entity audit base.
  • Progress towards, or holding of, audit responsible individual status.
  • Sector depth in financial services, technology, real estate or industrials.
  • Awareness of FCA expectations relevant to listed and regulated issuers.
  • Familiarity with HMRC reporting interactions and the tax dimension of audited accounts.
  • An established referral network among lawyers, bankers and corporate advisers in the United Kingdom.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.

Next Steps:

This opportunity is open to candidates holding or eligible for the right to work in the United Kingdom who match the above criteria. Please apply to receive prompt contact from an experienced and specialist accounting-firm recruitment consultant.
