We are searching for the best talent for External Affairs Manager for Colombia.

ROLE PURPOSE: The External Affairs Manager for Colombia is responsible for actively assessing, anticipating, influencing, and shaping the evolving public policy environment in close partnership with internal stakeholders and external actors. The role plays a critical part in enabling sustainable business growth, market access, and reputation by translating complex policy landscapes into actionable strategies. This position requires a proactive, collaborative, and innovative leader who ensures full compliance with applicable laws, ethical standards, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), while strengthening the company’s credibility among policymakers and key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Public Policy Strategy & Advocacy

  • Develop and execute comprehensive, actionable advocacy strategies aligned with business and market access priorities.

  • Anticipate, monitor, and analyze policy trends, identifying risks and opportunities impacting the business.

  • Lead the design and implementation of policy positioning and advocacy initiatives to shape the external environment.

External Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with government authorities, policymakers, trade associations, think tanks, and opinion leaders.

  • Represent the company in external forums, events, and industry associations.

  • Take leadership roles within trade associations to influence healthcare policy discussions and decisions.

  • Actively contribute to shaping the public policy agenda and thought leadership in the healthcare ecosystem.

Business Support & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Country Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between policy strategy and business priorities.

  • Develop high-quality briefing materials and communication tools in both Spanish and English.

  • Provide strategic insights and act as a subject matter expert to strengthen external affairs capabilities within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Political Science, International Relations, Healthcare-related fields or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of market access, health technology assessment (HTA), and regulatory systems.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with the Colombian government and healthcare system.

  • At least 5 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or related functions.

  • Prior experience in the Ministry of Health or other government institutions is desirable.

  • Proven experience engaging with key healthcare stakeholders and participation in healthcare industry associations or trade groups is desirable.

  • Solid understanding of policymaking processes within both Executive and Legislative branches and the broader political landscape.

  • Advanced level of English required
