Job Description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in employee relations/investigations, gained in either an HRBP role, Employee Relations Advisory role, or equivalent experience as an employment attorney practicing employment law.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in contingent workforce management, ethics and compliance, or employment law counsel in a global environment, with strong project and cross-functional stakeholder management experience (xWS, Legal, leadership).
• Expertise in establishing best practices for co-employment employment risk management, worker classification, and applying complex employment laws to global HR compliance and investigation issues.
• Ability to establish domain expertise and persuasively influence executive business leaders to drive compliant structures and necessary change in contingent workforce engagements.
• Ability to clearly convey complex investigation conclusions and business recommendations, both verbally and in writing.

The Extended Workforce Investigations (xWI) team is a dedicated pillar of Google's broader Employee Relations organization, which sits within People Operations. We are a forward-thinking group of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who operate with integrity and empathy. The xWI team manages complex investigations and grievance resolutions related to violations of Google’s Extended Workforce policies, the Google Code of Conduct, and the Google Supplier Code of Conduct.

In partnership with stakeholders across Extended Workforce Solutions(xWS), Employment Legal and other investigative teams, we strive to mitigate enterprise risk while supporting the fair treatment and compliance framework that guides our critical extended workforce. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $171000 - $247000 (USD) + 20% bonus target

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute thorough and timely investigations and grievance resolution for complex, sensitive policy violations involving Google’s extended workforce, preparing and maintaining all associated data and documentation.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) by tracking the evolving internal/external risk landscape, anticipating high-risk issues, and escalating policy non-compliance to key stakeholders like xWS and Employment Legal.
• Mitigate significant co-employment and xWS risks for Google by reviewing highly-flagged issues, formulating, and collaborating with xWS to implement corrective action recommendations.
• Influence executive business leaders on strengthening awareness and compliance within their respective teams regarding co-employment risk and contingent workforce management best practices.
• Leverage investigation data and insights to inform strategic risk mitigation initiatives, such as enhancing policy guidance, developing training, and driving program improvements across the Extended Workforce organization.
