Job DetailsJob Location: Tampa Office - Tampa, FL 33614Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $49,500.00 - $49,500.00 Salary/yearThe Housing Specialist provides services to current and former foster care young adults seeking safe and affordable housing options with the ability to learn life skills. The Housing specialist will work with community partners to identify the appropriate placement that will allow for continued support, guidance and life skills personal development. The Housing specialist will provide 24 hour crisis management to youth participating in Extended Foster Care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
1) Educate young adults on life skills related to securing and maintaining appropriate housing.
2) Educate young adults on the Fair Housing Act and their rights as a tenant.
3) For young adults in semi-practice housing and any high risk young adults, conduct weekly face to face contact for the first 90 days and monthly thereafter. Face to face visits will serve to provide on-going support, education, and linkages to community resources.
4) Monthly group Life Skills trainings to be provided covering topics such as, but not limited to,: home maintenance, health/hygiene, HIV/AIDS education & pregnancy prevention, time management/prioritization, emergency/safety planning, financial literacy, food management/cooking, employment seeking/maintenance, transportation including purchasing a car.
5) Provide 24 hour on-call crisis intervention, conflict.
6) Facilitate and maintain the semi practice living placements including application, interview, intake, budgets, and payments to landlords as well as incidentals to participants.
7) Facilitate staffings related to residents violating program rules and expectations.
8) Provide participant social interaction and enhancement activities.
9) Complete and submit required documentation according to contractual and regulatory requirements.
10) Establish and maintain relationships with landlords, property owners and low income housing programs.
11) Maintain application and background screening files on the partners providing housing to IL young adults.
12) Coordinate and facilitate quarterly Semi Practice Living provider meeting specifically with the partners providing housing to extended foster care and IL adults.
13) Increase community awareness regarding the challenges faced by former foster youth.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, or a related social sciences and human services field. In addition, two years professional experience providing services to teens and young adults; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
All positions require screening through the Florida Background Screening Clearinghouse.
