Extended Care Associate 2026–2027
Location: AMS Little Rock
Compensation: $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Required: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (aftercare; non-negotiable)
• Optional: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM (before-care, based on availability)

The Extended Care Associate is responsible for supervising students during before- and after-school programming. This role supports a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students can participate in activities, complete homework, and build positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Safety

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff
• Maintain a structured and supervised environment during extended care hours

Student Engagement & Activities

• Support and facilitate daily activities aligned with the program schedule
• Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate activities
• Provide homework assistance and academic support

Classroom Environment & Operations

• Distribute snacks and supplies to students
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
• Support behavior management and reinforce expectations

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
• Collaborate with school staff to support student needs
• Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a school setting or customer service-related field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative

Preferred:

• Experience working with school-age children
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Background Requirements

• Arkansas State Background Check
• Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check
• Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a school setting and may include standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

• Ability to stand and move for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
