FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Holy Trinity School is seeking an afterschool Extended Care Aide to work with our multi-age group of students Monday through Thursday from 2:45pm to 5:00pm and Friday from 12:30pm to 3:00pm. This person will run the first 30 minutes as a homework club, then lead engaging small group activities for the remainder of care hours. We're looking for someone with a creative spirit who will bring weekly projects to the program and connect with kids through distinct interest areas. As with all Holy Trinity staff, the Extended Care Aide is expected to meet all goals, guidelines, and duties with enthusiasm, respect, integrity, understanding, and patience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the first 30 minutes of care each day as a structured homework club, assisting students with assignments and providing academic support.
  • Plans and leads creative weekly projects and activities (eg. science experiments, poetry/book readings, knitting, crafts, and similar) to keep programming engaging and fresh.
  • Monitors and actively engages multi-age groups of students throughout care hours, connecting with them through distinct interest areas rather than simply supervising.
  • Prepares and distributes snacks to the children.
  • Complies with security procedures, including attendance, pick-up, and emergency procedures to ensure the children’s safety.
  • Actively maintains a clean and organized site.
  • Assists children with problem-solving skills and conflict resolution.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and coworkers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Religious Qualifications

  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)
  • Basic Catechetical Certification (preferred)
  • Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy

Professional Qualifications

  • At least two years of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Friendly with excellent people skills
  • Portrays a professional demeanor
  • Self-directed
  • Great attention to detail
  • Performs standard word processing and google suite programs
  • Certification in child first aid and CPR required by Aug 26th (reimbursed by school)
  • Live Scan fingerprint background clearance
  • Completion of California Mandated Reporter Training

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be present with students, on their feet, standing close to supervise and mediate indoor and outdoor games and activities. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the outdoor space, indoor space, and office. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within the local community to purchase and restock student snacks. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee may be called upon to render first aid to students as needed.
