Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the local Exploration Team(s). Services may take place in the field or in the office and will include periodic travel. Provide direct oversight and supervision; guidance and instruction on the assessment of site conditions and issues that may arise. Will be responsible for planning exploration work, arranging equipment maintenance and repairs, aiding in staffing decision, and coordinating with Project Managers to maintain exploration schedule and services.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Tasks:

• Maintain local exploration schedule including internal Exploration Teams and subcontracted crews and communicate schedule regularly with Project Managers and Department Managers;
• Responsible for preparing (or verifying) Exploration Packages are complete before Exploration Teams mobilize to the site;
• Assist local Project Managers and National Managers on scoping, budget, and cost estimates for exploration work;
• Arrange training of Exploration Team(s) and verify appropriate licenses (i.e. CDL, Lead Operator, Assistant Operator, OSHA, MSHA, etc.) are maintained;
• Review GeoTab data periodically and coach Exploration Team(s), as necessary, to improve scores; and
• Responsible for local equipment maintenance (including Weekly Rig Inspections, Semi-Annual Rig Inspections, Hammer Calibrations, and tooling inventory) and arranging external maintenance/repairs, as necessary;
• Safety Leadership:
• Manage leading indicator expectations for Exploration Team(s) regarding near-miss reporting, site safety check-ins, GeoTab coaching, etc;
• Verify DOT Hours of Service logs are compliant and pre-trip inspections are complete for CDL drivers/CMV vehicles;
• Submit property damage reports, as necessary, and partner with Corp Safety and Nation Exploration Manager if injury or property damage occur; and
• Lead the safety culture of the local Exploration Services by hosting routine safety meetings, transferring Corp initiatives, supporting the local Exploration Team(s), and facilitating safety concerns/discussions with Project Managers.
• Financial Management:
• Responsible for managing the financial expectations of the local exploration services in coordination with the local Operations Manager;
• Verify time, mileage, expendables, and equipment charges are accurately applied to projects and non-chargeable maintenance time is tracked and accounted for;
• Manage local exploration services expenses by reviewing travel costs, operational expenses, fuel, maintenance/repairs, etc; and
• Coordinate billing efforts with local Project Managers and Department Managers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering or Geology preferred.
• Minimum 4-6 years’ relevant experience.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required, CDL Preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Lead Operator Certification or equivalent preferred.
