Expert Thermal Separation Processes (m/f/d)

Joining the Process Technologies Cluster, you will be part of a team that delivers safe, reliable, and sustainable technical solutions and innovations for Bayer. In close collaboration with the research, development, and manufacturing functions at Bayer worldwide we explore pioneering processes and technologies, driving digitalization in the life sciences industry. Our team serves as the global center of expertise for unit operations in chemical manufacturing, creating sustainable solutions for crop protection and pharmaceuticals. We combine diverse professional expertise with academic partnerships to achieve our goals.

As Expert for Thermal Separation Processes, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally and personally within Bayer. The position places you at the critical interface between development and production, where you will be responsible for the development and optimization of distillation, extraction and related fluid separation processes for manufacturing of Bayer’s active ingredients and formulations as well as in seeds processing.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITES

• As a member of multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to scale-up activities and technology transfers to pilot and production scale through evaluation of existing data, analysis of running production processes and dedicated experimental investigations
• You take over the coordination of projects as well as the supervision of various test and pilot plants
• You are responsible for the planning of complex experiments, the simulation of fluid processes and the planning of technical equipment and plants
• You will coordinate the analytical characterization of thermodynamical properties as well as extraction & distillation behavior under various process conditions.
• You will supervise laboratory equipment maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• You will support commissioning and troubleshooting in production plants and use your knowledge to contribute to the efficient and cost-conscious operation
• You find technical solutions based on scientific approaches and participate in the evaluation of novel separation technologies and equipment and contribute to internal knowledge development as well as external scientific exchange within academic and industrial networks

WHO YOU ARE

• You have a completed university degree and a PhD in the field of thermal process engineering or thermodynamics with ideally initial relevant work experience
• You feel at home being at the interface between development and production and enjoy developing concepts and realize them
• You have initial experience in project management, as you will be responsible for many customer projects with us
• You are familiar with the essential tools in the field of thermal process engineering and thermodynamics to develop innovative solutions.
• Your knowledge and way of working is oriented towards new trends and technologies in our life science industry
• You believe that a collaborative approach leads to better solutions, and you have strong collaboration and communication skills to achieve this
• Your actions and thinking are characterized by a high degree of goal- and result-orientation
• Your English and German skills are very good, both written and spoken
