Your new role:

In the global headquarters we source a selection of goods that are offered to and sold by all our country subsidiaries worldwide. For our Food category, we are currently looking for an Expert in Global Procurement Food, limited for 24 months (all genders), who brings our assortment to the next level. You analyze the international assortment, align with the sourcing teams in our countries, and derive creative and beneficial solutions. You keep close track on supplier production capacity and coverage rate and check e-sourcing status and report database (prices, volumes, supplier contracts). Lead the global relationship between international teams of strategic suppliers, Metro HQ stakeholders and various METRO country companies ensuring the suppliers perform in line with our company strategy.

Where your expertise is needed:

  • Performance: Define, develop, negotiate, implement, and review the performance of a Global Own Brand Range in our countries.
  • Harmonization: Continuously align with our country subsidiaries to harmonize the product range and maximize its potential.
  • Process-Management: Coordinate global cross functional teams (Quality, Packaging, Supply Chain, Marketing) through a clear and pre-defined Own Brand process.
  • Negotiation: Analyze and compare RFQ inputs from suppliers to negotiate the best quality/price ratio.
  • Strategy: Negotiate global service contracts delivering conditions against services designed together with our country’s international supplier strategies and joint business plans.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Education: University degree (or equivalent experience) with minimum 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in buying food commodities / FMCG on an international level.
  • Expertise & Personality: A strong negotiator with a proven track record in category management and condition-based supplier negotiations on both local and international level and strong interest in food product development and good understanding / willingness to learn HoReCa customer needs as well as openness to be motivated to get to know the B2B Food Wholesale sector, willing to accompany the development of our Global Strategy, following our Fundamentals with problem solving capacity and analytical thinking skills.
  • Digital skills: Proficient knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Outlook and strong knowledge in Excel.
  • Communication: Good communicator, who enjoys working in teams with internal colleagues from both HQ and countries, suppliers and manufacturer being fluent in English (both written and oral).
  • Flexibility: Problem solving capacity and analytical thinking skills.
