What is Expert Distributor Payments & Agent Channel?

The Expert Distributor Payments & Agent Channel will be responsible for driving the digitization of merchant-to-distributor (M2D) payments by enabling both distributors and merchants onto digital platforms. The role will focus on developing a robust supply chain payments ecosystem while simultaneously expanding and strengthening the agent network in high footfall locations such as educational institutions, fuel stations, transport hubs, pharmacies etc.

This position plays a critical role in accelerating financial inclusion, improving transaction volumes, and enhancing merchant/customer convenience through strategic partnerships, on-ground execution, and operational excellence. The postion reports: Regional Business Development Head

What does Expert Distributor Payments & Agent Channel do?

Distributor Payments Digitization (M2D):

  • Identify, onboard, and enable distributors for digital payment collections from merchants.
  • Drive adoption of merchant-to-distributor payments by onboarding merchants within the distributor ecosystem.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase digital payment penetration across the supply chain.
  • Ensure seamless integration and operational support for distributors and merchants.
  • Monitor transaction volumes and optimize performance to achieve assigned targets.

Merchant & Distributor Enablement:

  • Conduct training sessions and awareness programs for distributors and merchants on digital payment solutions.
  • Ensure proper deployment and usage of QR codes, till solutions, and other payment acceptance tools.
  • Resolve operational issues and provide continuous support to stakeholders for smooth transactions.

Agent Network Development:

  • Identify and develop agent touchpoints in high footfall locations such as Educational institutions, Fuel stations, Bus/train terminals, Pharmacies and hospitals etc.
  • Expand and strengthen the agent network to improve accessibility and customer reach.
  • Ensure activation, productivity, and compliance of agents as per company standards.

Channel Performance & Management:

  • Set targets and monitor performance of distributors, merchants, and agents.
  • Track KPIs including transaction volumes, active merchants, and agent productivity.
  • Take corrective actions to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, merchants, and key partners.
  • Act as a liaison between regional teams, head office, and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal departments for seamless execution of initiatives.

Regional Promotions & Trade Visibility:

  • Plan and execute on-ground activations to drive awareness and adoption of digital payments.
  • Execute and implement regional promotional strategies and campaigns to drive sales.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop effective promotional materials and initiatives.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Expert Distributor Payments & Agent Channel?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales, channel development, or business development, preferably in fintech, telecom, or financial services.
  • Proven experience in managing distributor networks, merchant acquisition, or agent channel development.
  • Strong understanding of digital payments, supply chain ecosystems, and branchless banking models.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on driving digital adoption and revenue growth.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-driven, target-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Good understanding of compliance and operational processes related to payments and agent networks.
