Shift: 7:30am-3:30pm. Hybrid 2 days a week.

General Description:

Under limited direction, manages the internal audit functions in an OU Health perioperative services department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Functions in the charge audit nurse role to complete billing/charging.
  • Responsible for auditing all operating room, outpatient, recovery, GI, and anesthesia charges for the prior day’s procedures.
  • Extracts and analyzes data from the OR systems.
  • Adds new supply items to dictionary.
  • Researches problems in OR Module and communicates with admitting and billing personnel in correcting any charges made in error.
  • Provides daily support to the surgical services staff and OR application users to resolve issues related to scheduling, charges, auditing, physician privileges, patient profiles and documentation.
  • Assists in providing education to staff/end-users in accurate use of current and new system applications.
  • Participates with OR management in identifying and resolving issues with the goal of improving patient care, documentation and charging.
  • Prepares required reports, as requested or needed and to ensure audit process is accurate and complete.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred

Experience: 3 years of experience in an operating room

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of patient care information systems such as Meditech or EPIC.
  • Ability to extract and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures used in an operating room.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work with others as a team and ensure quality patient care.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills.
