What role you will play in our team

  • Develop, enhance and deploy reservoir modelling and simulation technologies / workflows to integrate subsurface data (especially seismic) into reservoir simulation rapidly and interpret its results.
  • Work with multi-discipline teams to enable development and deployment of reservoir simulations technologies, including the machine-learning based.
  • Leverage fundamental reservoir engineering and reservoir simulation skills in implementing the technology for business use cases.
  • Engage external parties to evaluate and recommend any existing industry application as applicable.
  • The position is located at ExxonMobil campus in Spring, Texas.

What you will do

The candidate will apply advanced reservoir engineering (especially in simulations) techniques. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop advance reservoir modeling and simulation to integrate and interpret subsurface data at rapid pace, including the use of algorithm (Python or equivalent) or Petrel Workflow editor.
  • Collaborate with cross functional organization (Geo, Data Scientists, IT) to develop reservoir simulation technologies / workflows that are capable to leverage ML-based tools.
  • Analyze multi scenario subsurface modelling results and provide insight to business application
  • Plan and commercialize any new workflows / technologies for broader use in ExxonMobil organization.
  • Document technical workflows, contribute to IP generation, and support technical publications

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • Advance degree (Ph.D) in Engineering required - preferably Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in technology development
  • Experience in Reservoir simulation, and handling subsurface data
  • Strong proficiency in using Petrel RE/Eclipse/INTERSECT, Including Workflow Editor
  • Solid understanding of physic-based modelling and computational method, including Python (or equivalent) algorithm
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and focused on achieving business results
