Job Description

  • Lead defined economic and data analytics workstreams across projects, ensuring outputs are delivered to agreed scope, quality standards and timelines.
  • Apply economic appraisal, policy assessment, cost-benefit analysis, demand and market analysis, and related analytical techniques to support advisory assignments.
  • Analyse complex datasets using Excel, Python and other relevant tools to generate clear, evidence-based insights.
  • Translate technical analysis into concise, client-ready reports, presentations, dashboards and recommendations.
  • Interpret client requirements and work with project managers and technical leads to ensure deliverables respond to the brief and intended outcomes.
  • Contribute to workshops, technical discussions and client interactions as required, bringing a clear point of view supported by evidence.
  • Support proposal development, including methodology, technical approach, resourcing assumptions and relevant written content.
  • Apply, or rapidly develop familiarity with, relevant Australian government and industry appraisal frameworks, including NSW Treasury and Transport for NSW guidance where applicable.
  • Review own work rigorously, participate in peer reviews and ensure outputs meet WSP quality, commercial and risk management expectations.
  • Provide guidance to junior colleagues, share technical knowledge and contribute to building economic and analytical capability within the India team.
  • Comply with WSP policies, including SHEQ, information security, ethics and professional conduct requirements.
  • Typically, 3–6 years’ experience in economics, infrastructure advisory, data analytics, policy analysis, transport economics, urban economics, public sector advisory or management consulting.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project components with increasing autonomy, including structuring analysis, managing inputs, checking outputs and escalating risks when required.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capability, including experience working with large, complex datasets and drawing practical insights from imperfect information.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Python, Power BI, R, SQL or other analytical and visualisation tools would be advantageous.
  • Experience preparing written reports, presentations, charts, tables and other client-facing material for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings, implications and uncertainties in plain language.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, business cases, options analysis, economic appraisals, policy assessments or infrastructure advisory assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams and adapt to Australian client, project and governance requirements.
  • Commercial awareness, professional judgement and ownership mindset appropriate for a senior consultant-level role.
  • Constructive, coachable and collaborative working style, with the maturity to seek feedback, act on it and support others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Public Policy, Finance, Planning, Engineering, Mathematics or a related analytical discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Economics, Applied Economics, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Infrastructure, Transport Planning or a related field is desirable.
  • Professional training or certification in data analytics, economic appraisal, business case development or infrastructure advisory would be advantageous.
