Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Experienced Pest Control Technician, on a 6.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £17.03 - £22.28 per hour

Pest Control Technician will be responsible for inspecting, identifying, treating, and preventing pest infestations while ensuring compliance with legislation, health and safety standards, and professional best practice. The role also includes providing technical advice, maintaining accurate records, and delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and surveys to identify pest infestations and determine appropriate treatment methods.
  • Carry out safe and effective pest control treatments using traps, pesticides, biocides, deterrents, and other approved management techniques in accordance with BPCA Codes of Practice.
  • Treat and manage a variety of pests including rodents, squirrels, cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, moths, flies, ants, wasps, hornets, pigeons, and stray dogs.
  • Survey internal and external areas, including drainage systems, and recommend repairs or proofing measures to prevent future infestations.
  • Undertake pest proofing works using approved materials and methods in compliance with fire safety guidance and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Collect, transport, and arrange kennelling or rehoming of stray dogs in accordance with legislation and safe working procedures.

Qualification:

  • RSPH Level 2 Pest Control Technician qualification (minimum requirement).

Essentials

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience identifying, treating, and preventing a wide range of pest infestations.
  • Knowledge of pest proofing techniques and environmental health legislation.
  • Experience using pesticides and biocides safely in accordance with COSHH regulations.
  • Ability to work safely in residential, commercial, and public environments.
