Job Description

The Chevron Gulf of America (GOA) Business Unit's Deepwater Operations is accepting online applications for the position of Experienced Operations Technician rotating out of Galliano, LA through November 1st, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

This position will assume the responsibility of safely monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing offshore production process equipment. A key aspect will be ensuring the operation is at peak reliability and efficiency by reviewing trends for optimal performance.

The successful candidate(s) will work on a multi-skilled offshore operations team, filling roles in basic producing operations on GOA deepwater facilities. Members of the offshore operations team will work on a 14 & 14 rotational schedule and will be expected to work both day shift and night shift during a 14-day rotation. The assignments could be on any Gulf of America deepwater production facility operated by Chevron.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event.
  • Perform duties as detailed below associated with offshore oil and gas producing operations: Well testing, Record keeping, Monitoring / Operating control systems, Safety device testing, Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain process and utility systems, Operate and monitor Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
  • Utilization of SAP to create work orders for inventory and work planning/prioritization.
  • Perform normal crane and/or rigging operations
  • Partner with other employees, and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Assure all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years recent (no more than two-year absence) operations experience in the petroleum and/or chemical industry.
  • Ability and willingness to work a 14 & 14 offshore rotational schedule, 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for a variety of safety, environmental and operations related issues.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of operations process systems.
  • Ability to perform control room operator duties.
  • Capable of performing P&ID and field verifications for all Operations IHEs.
  • Broad knowledge of operations process systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic instrumentation and ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of end devices.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher in Petroleum Services, Industrial Technology, Process Plant Technology, Process Operating Technology, Process Operations Technology, Process Technology, Process Production Technology or related degree, or Military with a rank of E4 or higher with Military Occupational Specialty in Mechanical Maintenance, Instrumentation, Electrical, Process Ops or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of five years recent (no more than two-year absence) operations experience in the petroleum and/or chemical industry.
  • USCG licensing is considered a plus.
  • Experience working at Chevron-operated GOA deepwater facility

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
