The opportunity
Charters Towers Veterinary Service is seeking a full-time veterinarian to join our team. The role is based in Charters Towers, a rural city approximately 1 hour inland from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland.
Charters Towers Veterinary Service is a true rural Queensland mixed practice, servicing pets, horses and beef cattle stations in the surrounding area and beyond. The team is made up of three to four veterinarians and six veterinary nurses and receptionists. The clinic offers all of the expected routine and preventative care services for pets and horses, such as vaccination, desexing and dentistry, along with emergency treatment of medical and surgical cases. There is also a growing equine reproductive service. We also provide pregnancy testing, bull fertility testing and ambulatory cattle services including obstetrics.
The clinic was purpose built in 2019. It boasts a beautiful, open plan with shiny new facilities and plenty of space. We have IDEXX in house pathology lab, wireless DR xray, large and small animal ultrasound, IM3 dental suite including dental xray, indoor horse crush at the clinic and mobile horse crush and dental kit including power float. We have recently added stables for hospitalisation of horses requiring ongoing care.
Opportunities exist for in house training and mentorship from our senior veterinary staff who hold a range of post graduate qualifications including multiple ANZCVS memberships, PhDs and two registered specialists (in cattle and reproduction).
