Experienced Firmware Engineer – Fixed Dome Cameras

Are you a curious engineer who loves digging into complex systems and finding smart solutions? We're looking for an Experienced Firmware Engineer to join the Fixed Dome Firmware team at our HQ in Lund, Sweden. Here, you'll work with creating a smarter, safer world and help bring the next generation of network video products to life.

Who is your future team?

You will be an important part of our Fixed Dome Firmware team, where you will develop, deliver, and maintain the software for a large range of Axis core products. Here, you'll collaborate with different functions within Axis — from all parts of the embedded Linux stack to teams working with image quality, mechanical design, electronics, production test, and more.

We are a dedicated team of developers with diverse experience and knowledge, working together in an agile and open climate. As a firmware engineer, you take ownership of the projects you work on and share responsibility for ensuring all projects in our department move forward and meet their targets. We succeed at this by working as a team.

What you'll do here as an Experienced Firmware Engineer

As a firmware engineer in our team, you play a key role in bringing the next generation of Axis products to life — your work directly powers the devices that help create a smarter, safer world.

• Join product development projects, developing network-connected devices
• Configure and adapt AXIS OS, our own Linux-based operating system, for our next generation of products
• Analyse, design, and develop software features for upcoming products
• Find solutions to complex problems in a large code base — from Linux kernel drivers to applications
• Optimise embedded system performance
• Contribute to continuously improving the way we work as a team
• Collaborate closely with your colleagues, sharing knowledge and offering support

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a collaborative and curious team player who thrives on challenges and loves to learn. You are comfortable working in a changing environment and have a genuine passion for technology. You enjoy solving problems together with your colleagues, which means strong communication skills are important.

You bring a personal drive and are energised by working in an environment of openness, creativity, trust, and commitment. As Axis values teamwork, it is important that you contribute with a positive spirit and are comfortable working with agile methodologies.

We'd love to hear that you have/are:

• 5+ years of experience in firmware or embedded software development
• Solid knowledge of Linux system programming — user space, kernel space, and device drivers
• Experience with C and/or C++ programming
• Familiarity with continuous integration, version control using Git, and build tools
• Experience working with agile methodologies
• An engineering bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
• Familiar working with AI-powered development tools

Bonus points if you also bring:

• Experience with debug tools such as GDB and Valgrind
• Familiarity with scripting languages — shell, Python, or Perl
• Working knowledge of low-level programming, e.g., using Micro Controllers (MCU)
• Experience leading agile teams
