Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Drayage Dispatcher to coordinate and manage container movements between ports, rail yards, warehouses, and customer locations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of drayage operations, port procedures, and dispatch systems, and can effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and terminals to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispatch drivers for import and export container pickups and deliveries from ports, rail yards, and warehouses

  • Coordinate daily drayage operations to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries

  • Monitor driver progress and provide real-time updates to customers

  • Schedule and manage appointments with ports, rail terminals, warehouses, and customers

  • Ensure compliance with port cutoffs, ERD/LFD dates, and appointment requirements

  • Track containers, chassis availability, and driver hours

  • Communicate with drivers to resolve delays, equipment issues, or route problems

  • Maintain accurate records in TMS and dispatch systems

  • Provide proactive communication regarding delays, issues, and delivery status

  • Work closely with customers, brokers, and internal teams to ensure service excellence

  • Optimize routes and driver productivity to maximize efficiency

Workingconditions

  • Working schedule: WED-SUN from 0600-1630 CST

  • Remote mode of work

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Drayage Dispatcher (required)

  • Strong knowledge of drayage operations, port and rail procedures

  • Experience working with major ports (such as LA/LB, Savannah, NY/NJ, Houston, etc.) is a plus

  • Experience with TMS systems and dispatch software

  • Understanding of container terminology (FCL, chassis, demurrage, detention, per diem, ERD, LFD, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Good computer skills (Excel, email, dispatch systems)

  • Experience working with owner-operators and company drivers

  • Experience scheduling port and rail appointments

  • Familiarity with port systems such as PortPro, LoadMatch, or similar platforms

  • Experience working with US-based drayage operations
