Penn United Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join our Die Assembly and Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled, precision-focused professional who takes pride in developing and assembling complex progressive stamping dies and tooling. The successful candidate will bring strong tool & die-making experience, understanding of mechanical processes, troubleshooting ability, and a commitment to producing high-quality tooling that meets customer and product specifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and assemble progressive stamping dies/tools to produce product that conforms to product part print.
  • Fit and assemble tooling and assists in problem solving.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinder, to machine parts, and verify conformance of manufactured parts to specifications.
  • Lift parts manually or using hoist, and position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices, such as vices, V-blocks, and angle plates.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers.
  • Connect wiring and hydraulic/pneumatic lines to install electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
  • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
  • Exercise sound technical judgment when deviations from product print specifications are necessary, incorporating industry accepted practices to ensure proper form, fit, and function.
  • Travel occasionally to support customer needs

Qualifications: What We’re Looking For:

  • Journeyman papers in tool and die making or equivalent experience
  • High degree of technical, mechanical and math skills.
  • Thorough familiarity with tool and die making and assembly machine industry.
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical processes.
  • Able to grasp engineering concepts and develop creative innovations for die making.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of shop capabilities and manufacturing processes.
  • Candidates must be able to lift up to a minimum of 40 lbs., and stand 8-10 hours per day.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Shift: Predominately daylight Monday through Friday; occasional need for off-shifts and Saturday
