Department: Nutrition Services

Shift/schedule: Part Time (16 hrs/wk)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Chief Clinical Dietician and in coordination with the Production Manager/Chef. The Expeditor's primary job function is to coordinate the assembly of patient meals during the tray-line process by checking all meals for accuracy, and ensuring the timely delivery of food carts to the nursing units. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Licensure:

• N/A

Experience:

• Working knowledge of the room service goals for the production area. Three to six months progressively more responsible related work experience preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Coordinate the assembly of patient meals during the tray-line process.

2. Checks all meals for accuracy, adherence to quality assurance minimums and goals.

3. Ensures the timely dispatch of food carts to the nursing units.

4. Checks all food items for acceptability and appropriateness of diet.

5. Rejects any unacceptable food items and requests replacement item.

6. Replenishes supplies on tray-line.

7. Follows proper food handling techniques according to HACCP and local agencies.

8. Ensures the integrity of stored food items on the tray-line.

9. Directs staff to change assignments as needed to ensure patient satisfaction.

10. Communicates well with all members of the Nutrition staff.

11. Takes ownership of problems and ensures a positive outcome.

12. Serves as a quality assurance control point for every aspect of the room service program.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.
