Job Description

We are currently looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join our restaurant team as The Kitchen Expeditor. The Kitchen Expeditor coordinates the flow of food orders between the kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality meal delivery.

The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and one-year prior experience in a food service setting. Additional culinary training/coursework highly desired. He or she must be committed to the customers, reliable to his or her co-workers, and be a self-motivated, organized, and detailed individual. Effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Order Coordination: Manage the flow of orders from the kitchen to the dining area, prioritizing tickets to ensure meals are prepared and delivered efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Inspect each dish for accuracy, temperature, presentation, and compliance with special dietary requests before it leaves the kitchen.
  • Communication: Serve as the central liaison between chefs, line cooks, and servers, relaying order details, modifications, and readiness status.
  • Timing and Synchronization: Ensure all dishes for a table are ready simultaneously, applying finishing touches like garnishes or cleaning smudges to enhance presentation.
  • Problem Solving: Address order discrepancies, inform servers of delays, and resolve issues promptly to maintain smooth service.
  • Station Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked expediting area to support efficient workflow.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma preferred
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Formal culinary training a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple orders and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in order fulfillment, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong verbal skills to coordinate between kitchen and service staff and work collaboratively.
  • Stress Management: Remain calm under pressure during peak service times and proactively solve problems.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with restaurant operations, food safety regulations, and order management systems.

Our hotels have a very high standard of hospitality with a strong focus on the guest experience.

RESTAURANTS

Our restaurants range in cuisine style, price, and décor. The Settlers Inn is a farm to table fine dining experience in the historic Arts & Crafts dining room or on our terrace overlooking an extensive garden with over 100,000 perennials. Glass-wine.bar.kitchen is a tapas style sophisticated casual dining establishment, set in a gorge next to the Paupack High waterfalls. The Dock on Wallenpaupack is a casual style eatery with a vintage and seafood focus located on the shoreline of Lake Wallenpaupack. The Settlers Inn has the highest price point, followed by Glass-wine.bar.kitchen, and the lowest price point is the casual fair at The Dock on Wallenpaupack. Cocoon coffee house and bakery is a locally roasted coffee shop and quick service breakfast location, available at the Hawley Silk Mill.
