Job Description

Intertek is seeking a Freelance Expeditor on behalf of a key client in the energy sector. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can work independently while ensuring supplier deliverables align with critical project timelines. You will support the client by monitoring supplier performance and facilitating timely delivery of key components. The position is hybrid, with onsite presence in Ratingen required as needed, and flexibility to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential delays in supplier order processing that could impact contractual deadlines
  • Align expediting requirements with project procedures and documentation
  • Coordinate with QA/QC to define monitoring levels for key equipment
  • Assess the need for workshop visits and prepare corresponding visit reports
  • Review purchase order documentation, including scope, services, and specific terms
  • Collect and analyze monthly supplier progress reports, production schedules, and subcontractor status
  • Investigate and resolve documentation-related issues that may affect delivery
  • Work closely with project management to mitigate delays through supplier intervention
  • Escalate critical delivery disruptions and support the implementation of corrective measures
  • Maintain accurate expediting status reports
  • Ensure compliance with occupational safety and resource-efficiency standards

Your Profile:

Professional Experience & Technical Skills:

  • 3–5 years of experience in production engineering, preferably in oil & gas or plant construction
  • Strong knowledge of document processing and evaluation (EVA)
  • Familiarity with components commonly used in plant engineering
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel & Project), SAP, and PLM/DMS systems

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of project structures and proactive issue resolution with suppliers and team members
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to meeting project deadlines
  • Confident in managing challenging discussions and complex project dynamics

Methodological Competencies:

  • Skilled in structured planning and information gathering
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently

Language Skills:

  • Business fluent in German and English (spoken and written)
