Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) is responsible for understanding the treatment plan as outlined by the dentist and providing patient care within their scope of practice. The EFDA is required to provide appropriate care and address and communicate appropriate treatment information to other team members. Additionally, the EFDA will maintain equipment, supplies, cleanliness and efficiency of the office.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:15am - 4:30pm and Friday 8:15am - 12:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the following within the regulations within the scope of practice of your license including, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly perform restorations and sealants properly
  • Demonstrate proper isolation
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly perform coronal polishing and apply fluoride
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly place and remove rubber dams, matrices, & wedges
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly apply cavity liners and bases
  • Learn and understand how to place Denovos/Impressions
  • Provide patient and parent/guardian homecare instructions
  • Prepare area for each patients’ needs prior to each case
  • Understand the patient scheduling and office flow to ensure that appointments proceed
  • Thoroughly review patient’s charts prior to their procedure including the reason and necessity of visit, medical history, x-ray requirement, special considerations from previous visits and provide necessary information to the treating dentist
  • Additional job duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you’ll Need:

  • Graduate of an approved school of EFDA
  • Current EFDA license in state of practice, with license in good standing
  • Current DANB Radiology (x-ray) certification
  • CPR certification
  • Customer Service Experience – Friendly and helpful demeanor with patients and co-workers.
  • Flexibility – Must adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well under stressful situations
  • Must be available to travel to other locations to meet operational needs

Preferred, but not required:

  • Knowledge of electronic dental records and practice management systems, specifically Denticon
  • Pediatric experience
  • Dental office experience
