Travel Percentage: Up to 50% Family First Health is seeking an Expanded Function Dental Assistant for our Downtown York location. As a EFDA at Family First Health, you should have a positive and outgoing personality, excellent patient care skills, and strong organizational skills. A qualified clinical staff member should have: Working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology Ability to build relationships with patients Computer proficiency, the ability to learn new programs and an X-ray certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions as a dental assistant as required and performs all duties of a chairside assistant.
- Performs restoration placement including amalgam, composite, temporary, core build-up under the direction and supervision of a PA Licensed Dentist.
- Completes temporary crown fabrication and placement.
- Removal of sutures.
- Performs coronal polishing.
- Applies fluoride varnish.
- Places sealants, executes placement of matrix bands and rubber dams.
- Participates in the sterilization and disinfection of instruments and all clinical instrumentation.
- Assists the dental providers with patient and community education initiatives.
- Assists with the training of Dental Assistants under the direction of the Dental Assistant Supervisors and VP of Dental Services.
- EFDA has demonstrated a proficiency in clinical abilities.
- EFDA is able to participate in and bring all EFDA schedules to a successful completion of the day, with all providers at all sites.
- Perform all other job related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Graduation from an accredited EFDA program and current EFDA certification in the state of Pennsylvania
- Credential Required: EFDA Certification – State of PA
- Successful completion of the EFDA training period with Family First Health
- Current CPR and Narcan Certification
- Knowledge and ability to successfully perform all essential job functions of a Level 1 EFDA
- Knowledge of dental anatomy and a high level of all clinical competencies
- Knowledge of day-to-day operations of the Dental Department
- Proficient keyboarding skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work in, and respond appropriately to a demanding environment including crisis situations
- Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to communicate well and in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately with strong attention to detail
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, volunteers, and the public
- Ability to be organized, proactive in follow-up and follow-through, and to juggle multiple competing tasks

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mental/Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with an Expanded Function Dental Assistant position such as:
- - Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
- - Constant need to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands
- - Constant need to grasp, manipulate and/or assemble very small objects and dental tools
- - Prolonged periods of flexing or rotating wrists.
- - Constant exposure to disease, infection, blood, bodily fluids, and close contact with others.
- - Frequently subjected to varying and unpredictable situations.
- - Must wear common PPE/Safety Equipment (appropriate shoes, glasses, gloves, gowns, etc.)
- - Frequent lifting of supplies and equipment common in a dental department
- - Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.
- - Constant adjustment of eye focus to for close and distant vision
- - Requires correct hearing to normal range
- - Occasional to prolonged work at a computer and/or telephone use with repetitive typing, arm, and hand motion
- - Frequent travel between work sites and events with exposure to weather conditions
