The Exhibitions and Programming Associate is an ambassador of the RPL Brand and is enthusiastic in engaging with all our customers. They are knowledgeable guides and enrich the learning and enjoyment of customers’ experiences with contemporary arts through Dunlop Art Gallery’s exhibitions, events, promotional materials, communication channels, and programs. Under the direction of their assigned supervisor, they seek to understand, anticipate, and serve customer needs, whether in-person or via online/digital platforms. The Exhibition and Programming Associate is a welcoming host of programs and events, as well as a reliable team player in providing any required programming and event support. They are excellent communicators and show initiative to work independently as needed. They are confident in their time management to balance their customer service focused duties and clerical duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Delivers proactive internal and external customer-focused services in-person and virtually (phone, email, online platforms), while ensuring the highest standards of customer service are met to create a welcoming environment. Maintains customer relationships by responding to inquiries in-person within the gallery space during facilitation hours and during events and other programs. Seeks to understand RPL customer service model rooted in RPL brand; and understand customers and their needs to provide appropriate solutions. Recommends improved processes to provide quality customer service. Anticipates customer needs to provide outstanding customer service. Listens to customer concerns and responds calmly and politely. Effectively diffuses conflict. Forwards and escalates inquiries and issues to relevant individuals and departments. Applies RPL policies so that the confidentiality and safety of customers and the integrity and safety of staff, building, and RPL policies are maintained.
2. Proactively prepares to support exhibitions and programs by studying exhibition materials. Research, gather, draft and edit content for e-newsletters, Dunlop website and online social media platforms under guidance of Director, Curatorial staff, and the Coordinator, Collections and Digital Engagement. Prepares exhibition materials such as labels. Provides assistance to gallery and community art installations under the guidance of Gallery Preparator or other gallery staff.
3. Hosts Dunlop Art Gallery programs and related library programs, tours, and community events under the direction of a supervisor, according to established standardized event and program guidelines. Support events such as opening receptions by arranging for materials needed for events.

4. Provide clerical and administrative support for Dunlop Art Gallery that includes planning, organizing and carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities accurately with minimum supervision; and other administrative duties as assigned.
5. Assumes gallery facilitation responsibility as assigned.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Grade 12 plus Certificate in Office Administration or 1 to 2 years of relevant post-secondary (fine arts, communications, museum studies, etc.).
2. 2+ years’ experience working in an office setting or arts or cultural sector environment.
3. 1+ years’ experience facilitating art workshops.
4. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, stakeholders, artists, guest curators, grant officers, and others.
5. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, web-based services and other applications.
6. Strong customer service orientation and service record.
7. Understanding of working with customers from a variety of customer backgrounds and adapting to their needs and perspectives to ensure effective and respectful responses to questions and concerns.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high quality programs and day-to-day deliverables in a high-pressure, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
9. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and initiative.
10. Ability to effectively edit and draft promotional content for print and digital platforms.
