
The exercise specialist provides services under the direction of the physical or occupational therapist for patient care related assistance in Rehabilitation Services. The exercise specialist also provides nonphysical therapy exercise training and athletic training duties. When assisting therapists, the individual works under the direction and the supervision of a licensed therapist, and in accordance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and procedures. When providing nonphysical therapy exercise training the individual carries out a maintence exercise plan. These duties do not require direct supervision. The individual also provides cleaning and preparation of treatment areas and stocking of linen, supplies and other duties. The Exercise Specialist recognizes and addresses age-appropriate needs when caring for patients. In addition, the Exercise
Specialist assists in maintaining the practice environment in a clean, orderly condition. The Exercise Specialist assists with the delivery of care in Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Relief employees must be available to work at least four (4) days per pay period as determined according to the department needs
Ensures Cleanliness and Infection control in rooms/gym.
Demonstrates competence and serves as a resource for other staff as related to rehabilitation technology (body weight assisted treadmill, functional electrical stimulation bike for example)
Typical outpatient environment may include travel on campus or between outpatient clinic locations.
Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, bending, and stooping, throughout the day to navigate medical equipment or perform exercise instruction is required. Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
