As an Exercise Physiologist within Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program, you will play a key role in helping patients recover from cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiac procedures. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions,monitorpatient progress, and support recovery through evidence-based rehabilitation. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of Exercise Physiologists, physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, you will care for a diverse cardiac population whilebenefitingfrom strong mentorship, ongoing support, and opportunities to expand your experience across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.
This position offers a dynamic work environment where patient volumes and daily responsibilities are driven by cardiothoracic surgical activity and rehabilitation needs. Workloads are coordinated collaboratively among team members to ensure exceptional patient care and a balanced approach to coverage. For candidates seekingadditionalvariety and growth opportunities, there may be opportunities to support rehabilitation services at other Cleveland Clinic locations, including Mercy, Main Campus, Marymount, Hillcrest, and South Pointe.
A caregiver in this position worksdays| 5:30am—4:00pm|M-F| variable start and end times| No weekends or holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility,balanceand endurance.
Provide exercise prescriptions for patientsutilizingtest data, patientstatusand current medication regimen.
Update exercise prescriptions according to patientresponse
Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
Provide exercise information to patients,peersand the community through public speaking and education classes.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sDegreeor Master’sDegreein an exercise-related field
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Good interpersonal skills to work with patients, nurses,physiciansand other exercise physiologists
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Background in Cardiac Rehabilitation
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk.
Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients.
Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
