Job Description

Hourly Pay Range:

$26.61 - $39.92 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Exercise Physiologist
  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: M-F, 7:30-4:00pm, rotating Saturday and Sunday, and rotating holidays.
  • Rotation to Skokie and Highland Park as needed
  • What you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an exercise science or a related field (e.g. Kinesiology or Physical Education).
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (within 6 months of hire.)
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment in hospital and outpatient setting.
  • Experience in cardiac stress testing or clinical cardiology setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and ECG interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • What you will do:

  • Conduct and monitor cardiac stress testing, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress exams, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform EKGs and application of cardiac monitors (Zio, Holter) according to department protocol.
  • Initiate and maintain intravenous (IV) access for pharmacologic stress testing and contrast administration, following safety and infection control standards
  • Continuously assess patient response during testing (heart rate, blood pressure, ECG changes, symptoms) and respond appropriately to ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining test protocols, obtaining relevant history, and ensuring proper electrode placement and equipment setup.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, sonographers, and nursing staff to support high-quality cardiac imaging studies.
  • Recognize and promptly communicate abnormal or critical findings to the supervising physician.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of test results and patient data in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain and calibrate stress testing equipment, ensuring functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection control requirements.
  • Support efficient patient flow and scheduling to optimize lab productivity and minimize delays.
  • Provide compassionate patient care, ensuring comfort, understanding, and safety throughout the testing process.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain required certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS).
