Executive Vice President of Sales (Florida Based)

Our client, a long-standing, vertically integrated grower/packer/shipper/processor, is looking to hire an Executive VP of Sales with at least 5 years’ experience in a senior sales leadership role within the fresh produce industry. Retail Programs and Value-Add experience is strongly desired.


The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Sales is responsible for leading and driving the sales strategy for the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Sales Officer (CSO), the EVP of Sales oversees the sales team, establishes revenue goals, develops key customer relationships, and identifies growth opportunities to maximize market share and profitability. This role requires a deep understanding of the fresh produce market, including supply chain dynamics, customer preferences, and industry regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion within the fresh produce industry.
  • Lead and mentor the sales team, including regional and national sales managers, to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including retailers, wholesalers, and foodservice providers.
  • Monitor market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with major customers to ensure profitability and long-term partnerships.
  • Oversee sales forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking to ensure sales targets are met.
  • Implement training and development programs to enhance the effectiveness and performance of the sales team.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and market presence.
  • Report sales performance, challenges, and opportunities to the executive leadership team and provide strategic recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior sales leadership role within the fresh produce or food industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales strategies in a competitive market.
  • Strong understanding of the fresh produce supply chain, market dynamics, and customer needs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable sales strategies.
  • Experience managing national and regional sales teams.
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, CRM systems, and sales performance metrics.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily works in a professional office environment, with frequent travel to customer locations, regional offices, industry events, and conferences.
  • Standard business hours with significant flexibility required; role often involves extended hours, evenings, weekends, and travel to meet revenue goals and support strategic initiatives.
  • Frequent use of computers, CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and communication systems for forecasting, reporting, and performance management.
  • Regular interaction with executive leadership, sales teams, customers, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Fast-paced, high-pressure environment requiring strategic decision-making, negotiation, and leadership to achieve growth and profitability targets.
  • Occasional exposure to production, warehouse, or customer operational environments during site visits.
  • Work involves accountability for revenue performance, market expansion, and customer relationship management across multiple regions or channels.
