Job Description

The EVP of Action Sports is a ministry-driven leadership role focused on supporting the Senior EVP of Sport in leading FCA's sport-specific ministry. The Sport EVP partners closely with the Senior EVP of Sport to champion a unified sport-specific model, equip sport environment ministry leaders, and help ensure increased ministry impact and disciple-making outcomes across the sport's corresponding ministry programs. This leader provides relational support, ministry clarity, and operational continuity for the Sport environment, multiplying FCA's mission through staff, volunteers, coaches, and athletes.

The EVP's primary focus is to grow FCA programs through supporting the efforts of our field staff and ministry partners, both domestically and internationally.

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.

  • Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
  • Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
  • Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
  • Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Sport Leadership and Support

  • Provide relational leadership and guidance to field teams.
  • Serve as a support and sounding board for field leaders serving within assigned sport.
  • Help ensure priorities, expectations, and ministry direction are clear and unified within sport environment.
  • Help equip staff with clarity, resources, and support to execute sport-ministry effectively.
  • Champion FCA's identity as a sport ministry by reinforcing shared language, systems, and ministry values.
  • Promote collaboration, unity, and shared best practices across sport environment.
  • Serve as the primary FCA representative for partnership and collaboration opportunities within the assigned sport environment.
  • Promote E3 Discipleship strategy within sport environment and integration of field ministry programs across ministry platforms.

Ministry Impact and Metrics

  • Coach field staff in their goals of growing registered programs, Huddles, Mobilized Volunteers and Program Participation (Camps, Clubs, and Leagues).
  • Support field staff in identifying areas of ministry, opportunity, and growth.
  • Encourage a healthy rhythm of accountability, learning, and ministry excellence within sport environment.

Representation and Continuity

  • Provide continuity and relational connection across sport environment and within field team.
  • Strategically coordinate FCA presence at key industry events--such as major competitions, championships, and coaching conventions--to maximize ministry impact.
  • Develop and execute effective marketing strategies, including social media engagement and communication plans.

Synergistic Ministry Operations and Culture

  • Work directly with the staff across the Pillar structures to ensure collaboration and synchronization.
  • Provide ongoing support for field staff responsible for ministry.
  • Receive and welcome ongoing user feedback to continually improve the existing systems, processes, resources, and training.
  • Develop strategic plans to synchronize seamless movement of coaches and athletes into sport ministry opportunities on and off campus.

Global Ministry Ambassador

  • In alignment with the goals and processes set forth by the EVP of International Sport, support ministry growth in the Sport environment globally.

Financial Management

  • Responsible for stewarding the finances that have been entrusted to this ministry and position.
  • Prepare an annual budget.
  • Manage expenses in line with the approved budget.
  • Develop a long-term plan and budget for expansion.
