About the role

Mater is seeking a highly capable Executive Support Officer (ESO) to provide exceptional support to senior Health Executives within a complex hospital environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Mater Hospitals, this role supports two Health Executives and plays a critical part in coordinating executive workflows, communications and priorities across clinical and operational portfolios.

Salary range: $108,207 - $117,732 (MCA5) per annum plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

This is a fast paced, high trust role where you will act as a key extension of senior leaders—ensuring seamless coordination, strong communication, and efficient decision-making across Mater Health.

You will:

  • Provide high-level executive support, managing complex calendars, communications and priorities
  • Prepare executive briefings, reports, presentations and Board/committee materials
  • Coordinate clinical governance forums and strategic initiatives
  • Support operational readiness during periods of heightened activity
  • Manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Act as a key liaison across executives, clinical leaders, and corporate teams

About you

You are organised, proactive, and thrive in complex, high-pressure environments.

  • 5+ years experience supporting senior executives in large, complex organisations
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication (executive-level)
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and sensitive information
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and attention to detail
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship skills

Healthcare or similarly regulated experience is highly regarded.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
