Job Description

About the role and team

We serve as Uber’s in-house executive search firm. Our team operates as strategic advisors to Uber’s highest levels of leadership, managing high-stakes searches with the precision of a top-tier retained firm and the speed of a global tech leader. Our team supports across every core business unit at Uber—shaping the leadership benches that drive Mobility, Delivery, Uber for Business (U4B), emerging AI Solutions & others.

We are seeking an Executive Sourcer to join our US&C Non-Technical Executive Recruiting team, supporting both US&C and global scopes. As an Executive Sourcer, you own the external pipeline and search strategy from inception to close. You are a market expert who provides the intelligence that shapes our hiring decisions. You will run highly targeted external strategies based on deep alignment with Hiring Managers and Recruiters, ensuring we find the right leaders for Uber’s unique and evolving challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the External Strategy: Drive the research, engagement & candidate development strategy for high-profile searches by building sophisticated market maps and competitive landscapes
  • Deliver Market Intelligence: Provide week-over-week insights to Hiring Managers. Act as the expert on the talent landscape, identifying trends and talent movements that influence search direction
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrate a deep understanding of Uber’s business model and the broader tech/logistics landscape. You understand how a specific leadership hire impacts our long-term strategic goals
  • Executive Communications: Deliver high-touch, polished communications to both leadership and candidates. You are expected to synthesize complex market data into clear, actionable updates and craft compelling narratives that resonate with world-class executive talent
  • Navigate Complexity: Successfully evaluate and engage talent for multi-disciplinary roles. You must be able to assess candidates who sit at the intersection of different business functions and understand the unique "DNA" required for these roles
  • Operational Excellence: Execute with a methodical and detail-oriented approach. You maintain a high bar for data integrity and search tracking, ensuring no stone is left unturned
  • Solutions & Pivoting: Act as a solutions-oriented partner. You know when a search strategy needs to pivot based on market feedback and can quickly realign the team to a new direction
  • Innovate with AI: Leverage and experiment with AI-driven sourcing tools and unconventional talent identification methods to uncover high-impact leaders that traditional databases miss
  • Gain Stakeholder Buy-In: Act as a consultant to the business. Use data and market evidence to guide leadership toward the right talent profiles, challenging assumptions when necessary

Basic Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of executive research, sourcing, or recruiting experience
  • Experience in a retained executive search firm or an in-house executive search function at a high-growth company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Consultative Mindset: Proven ability to gain immediate buy-in from senior stakeholders and operate as a peer to executive leadership
  • Methodical Execution: A track record of being highly organized and process-driven while remaining flexible enough to adapt to Uber's fast-moving environment
  • Strategic Storytelling: Ability to pitch the Uber vision and explain complex business strategies in a compelling way
  • Analytical Depth: Ability to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner that drives decision-making.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt and remain curious. No two searches are the same and you'll need to continually solve problems and anticipate challenges before they arise
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, energetic, "can-do" attitude in a fast-moving environment. Comfortable with driving and influencing change, and changing priorities as needed
  • High business acumen & strong communication skills, written and verbal; the ability to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner
  • Will be a self-starter but team-oriented

About Uber

We are Uber. The go-getters. The kind of people who are relentless about our mission to help people go anywhere and get anything and earn their way. Movement is what we power. It’s our lifeblood. It runs through our veins. It’s what gets us out of bed each morning. It pushes us to constantly reimagine how we can move better. For you. For all the places you want to go. For all the things you want to get. For all the ways you want to earn. Across the entire world. In real time. At the incredible speed of now.

The idea for Uber was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008, and ever since then our DNA of reimagination and reinvention carries on. We’ve grown into a global platform powering flexible earnings and the movement of people and things in ever expanding ways. We’ve gone from connecting rides on 4 wheels to 2 wheels to 18-wheel freight deliveries. From takeout meals to daily essentials to prescription drugs to just about anything you need at any time and earning your way. From drivers with background checks to real-time verification, safety is a top priority every single day. At Uber, the pursuit of reimagination is never finished, never stops, and is always just beginning.
