This role is responsible for establishing the editorial vision, voice, and operating model, leveraging Postmedia’s network reach, data insights, and affiliate capabilities to create a high-intent, commerce-connected editorial destination for book lovers. The successful candidate will balance strong editorial judgement with audience growth, SEO, newsletter, and monetization acumen, working within a lean model supported by freelancers and shared services.

• Maintain an editorial calendar that balances evergreen, tentpole, and timely content across the network
Audience Growth & Distribution

• Own newsletter strategy, including writing, publishing, and optimizing one or more books-focused newsletters
• Produce and oversee social distribution strategies that promote books coverage and drive traffic back to owned platforms
• Analyze content, newsletter, and on-network performance metrics and apply insights to ongoing editorial and audience strategy
Community & Brand Building
• Develop community-oriented content initiatives that encourage participation, reader submissions, and audience recognition across digital and print platforms
• Support the launch and execution of a national annual “best of” books program to drive awareness, engagement, and repeat visits
Commercial & Monetization Support
• Integrate affiliate commerce seamlessly into high-intent editorial content, rankings, and reviews
• Partner with Postmedia’s sales and affiliate teams to support sponsored content, custom packages, and branded opportunities, while maintaining editorial integrity
• Collaborate with internal product, store, and data teams to improve conversion, placement, and performance over time
Who you are:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an editor, assigning editor, or senior content role in a digital-first newsroom or publishing environment
• Demonstrated experience building and scaling a digital content vertical or brand with a clear audience focus
• Strong copy-editing skills and working knowledge of CP Style
• Proven expertise in SEO, audience analytics, and performance optimization for digital content
• Experience publishing and managing newsletters and understanding their role in loyalty, retention, and conversion
• Comfort working with freelance contributors and managing external writers and creators
• Familiarity with affiliate commerce models, sponsored content, and sales collaboration, ideally in a books, culture, or lifestyle category
