The role

Reporting directly to the Group Executive, Infrastructure Services, the Executive Officer is a trusted adviser and strategic partner, supporting the delivery of Council priorities and enabling high‑quality, coordinated outcomes for Brisbane.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence enterprise‑wide priorities, strengthen governance and performance, and help shape how Council delivers services that matter to the community.

In this role you will

  • Provide high‑quality, timely and trusted strategic advice on complex, sensitive and high‑impact issues, initiatives and proposals
  • Direct operational performance and coordination across the Group to ensure effective prioritisation, delivery, and alignment with strategic and civic priorities
  • Manage and influence executive interfaces with Civic Cabinet, Committees and internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with senior executives, Councillors and government partners
  • Identify emerging issues, manage risk and mitigate impacts in high‑accountability environments
  • Oversee the systems, resources and strategic communications of the Group Executive’s Office

What you will bring

  • Proven Executive Officer experience with the capability, judgement and credibility to operate in a complex public sector environment and to enable the effective delivery of Council’s priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high‑quality, trusted strategic advice on complex and high‑impact matters, enabling informed decision‑making at senior executive and civic levels.
  • Strong ability to operate across organisational boundaries, coordinate priorities and support integrated delivery in large, complex organisations, with an understanding of enterprise‑wide impacts, interdependencies and risks.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with experience engaging effectively with senior executives, elected representatives, government agencies and diverse stakeholders.
  • An inclusive, people focused leadership approach that builds trust, supports collaboration and drives high performance, aligned with Council’s Leadership Blueprint.

Desirable: Graduate qualifications in business/management/public administration (or equivalent).
