WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi, is looking for a creative, inspirational leader to oversee our morning news coverage. In this position, you would be just one stop away from being a News Director, as four of our last five AM Executive Producers have that title. You would oversee 5 hours of daily content and supervise a staff of 14. You will need sound editorial judgment and excellent managerial and people skills. If you are ready to be a newsroom leader, we would love to hear from you.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee 5 hours of daily television news content
- Establish and execute the vision and mission for each newscast
- Manage a staff of 14 associates
- Coach and mentor the morning team, including 5 producers
- Lead daily editorial planning: Story selection, rundown strategy, live shot planning
- Champion cross-platform publishing, including web, social, and push alerts
- Conduct regular critiques and coaching to improve writing, producing, and show performance
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Journalism or Communications-related degree
- Equivalent military or work experience
- Experience as an accomplished Television News Producer
