Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an experienced workforce strategy leader to shape and deliver the CSD workforce planning agenda. This role will partner closely with senior executives to ensure the organisation has the right workforce, skills and capabilities to support business growth, transformation, productivity, and future customer needs.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in strategic workforce planning, workforce analytics, forecasting and organisational transformation within a large, complex environment. They will be responsible for translating business strategy into actionable workforce plans, identifying future capability requirements, leading workforce optimisation initiatives, and providing data-driven insights to support executive decision making.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Workforce Planning & Transformation

  • Develop and lead strategic workforce plans that align workforce capability, capacity and skills with business strategy and future organisational needs.
  • Anticipate workforce trends and identify opportunities to address future capability requirements, workforce risks and succession challenges.
  • Support large-scale transformation programs by assessing workforce impacts and developing strategies to ensure organisational readiness.
  • Drive workforce optimisation initiatives that improve productivity, organisational effectiveness and business performance.

Workforce Analytics & Planning Insights

  • Utilise workforce data, forecasting and scenario modelling to inform workforce decisions and strategic planning.
  • Build and maintain strategic workforce planning models that test demand, capacity, productivity, skills and location scenarios to support short-, medium- and long-term workforce decisions.
  • Lead robust scenario planning to assess workforce impacts from growth, transformation, technology change, service disruption, regulatory obligations and shifts in customer demand.
  • Translate complex workforce insights into practical recommendations that support executive decision-making.
  • Monitor workforce trends, risks and opportunities, proactively identifying areas requiring intervention.
  • Develop workforce strategies that address future skills requirements, including the impact of emerging technologies, automation and AI.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of workforce planning technology solutions to improve forecasting, capacity planning, scenario modelling and decision-making.

Workforce Optimisation & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure workforce capacity, capability and resource allocation are aligned to business demand and customer needs.
  • Lead workforce planning activities in dynamic operational environments, balancing customer outcomes with workforce efficiency.
  • Partner with business leaders to improve workforce productivity, performance and operational resilience.
  • Embed workforce planning into incident management and business continuity responses, ensuring rapid assessment of workforce impacts, recovery options and customer service continuity.
  • Support CPS 230 critical operations responsibilities by ensuring workforce plans, controls and contingency arrangements enable essential customer services to remain available through disruption, including 24/7 operational coverage where required.
  • Develop workforce plans that support changing customer demand, service expectations and business priorities.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted partnerships with senior executives and business leaders to influence workforce strategy and planning decisions.
  • Lead discussions on workforce priorities, risks and opportunities across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Drive alignment between workforce planning activities and broader organisational objectives.
  • Foster a data-driven workforce planning culture that supports informed and sustainable workforce decisions.

  • Significant experience in Strategic Workforce Planning within banking, financial services or other complex, large-scale organisations
  • Strong expertise in workforce forecasting, analytics, scenario modelling and workforce optimisation.
  • Deep experience in strategic workforce modelling and scenario planning across complex, multi-channel operations, including sensitivity analysis, capacity trade-offs and executive decision support
