Role Overview

This is an opportunity to combine deep actuarial and analytical expertise with commercial judgement in a senior transaction-focused role. The team supports a wide range of clients in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Reporting to the Head of Risk Solutions within the Business Development function, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the origination, pricing and execution of new transactions reinsuring asset and longevity risk across EMEA.
• Manage a small team of high-performing actuarial professionals and support their ongoing development.
• Oversee the detailed pricing of new transactions (including data analysis, experience analysis and basis setting, modelling of reserves and capital) to produce high-quality risk assessments and pricing recommendations.
• Present new business opportunities internally for governance approval.
• Support new business origination by developing and maintaining client relationships.
• Work alongside legal colleagues on reinsurance treaty negotiation and associated implementation work.

Experience

• A recognised actuarial qualification with typically 10+ years relevant experience.
• Highly numerate with deep technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: experience analysis, demographic basis setting, biometric (re)insurance pricing, asset intensive (re)insurance pricing, IFRS17 reserving, capital modelling.
• Strong understanding of longevity and/or asset risks, including derivation of mortality improvements, setting inflation and discount rates assumptions, asset reinsurance risks such as credit, currency, liquidity and reinvestment risk.
• Familiarity with asset–liability management principles and asset modelling
• Knowledge of international reinsurance and investment markets, products, and industry trends.

• Strong actuarial and analytical capability, with the intellectual curiosity and technical judgement to interrogate complex data, assumptions and modelling outputs, identify the key value drivers and form well-reasoned conclusions.
• A proactive and pragmatic mindset, taking ownership of opportunities and issues, anticipating what is needed and driving work forward in a fast-paced commercial environment.
• Sound commercial judgement, balancing technical rigour, risk considerations and client objectives to develop commercially attractive and effective risk transfer solutions.
• Clear and confident communication, including the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts in concise terms to executive, technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills, building relationships across actuarial, investment, legal, finance, risk and business development teams.
• Effective leadership of people and work, setting clear direction, maintaining high standards and supporting the development of actuarial professionals.
• Strong organisation and prioritisation, with the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams, maintain attention to detail and meet internal and external deadlines.
• A willingness to travel occasionally.

Fitness & Probity

This role is a ‘controlled function’ as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank.
