Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as an Executive Manager – Global Control Room (Organisational Conflicts) and utilise your control room or conflicts experience to manage conflicts of interest in a fast paced and changing environment.

What’s the role?

You’ll be stepping into a pivotal role where your strategic thinking and conflict management experience will shape how Westpac navigates complex organisational conflicts.

Based in Sydney or Melbourne, this permanent full-time position places you at the centre of our compliance and risk efforts, working across teams to identify, assess, and manage conflicts of interest across the Westpac group globally specifically in relation to transactional conflicts, FICC research, and information barriers.

What do I need?

We’re looking for someone with strong experience in control room, conflicts or private-side compliance within capital markets, corporate advisory or debt financing. Here’s what will help you thrive in this position:

  • Deep expertise in transactional conflicts management, with the ability to advise on complex deal structures and escalate risks with sound commercial judgement.
  • Sound working knowledge of global research rules and regulations.
  • Good understanding of debt products
  • Strategic relationship-building skills, enabling you to influence senior stakeholders and embed conflict awareness across diverse business units.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset, with proficiency in Excel and a talent for turning conflict data into actionable insights and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to multitask, organise and prioritise.
  • Agility and resilience, thriving in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory landscape while maintaining clarity and focus under pressure.
  • Proactive leadership, with a passion for education and uplift—delivering training and driving continuous improvement in conflict management practices, including how AI can be utilised to enhance processes.

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives
