Executive Manager – Financial Crimes, Fraud and Scams

Business Banking (BB) supports over one million small, medium and large business customers across Australia through a range of lending, transaction, trading and digital solutions. The Chief Controls Office (CCO) provides strong risk and regulatory oversight across Business Banking, embedding consistent governance, enterprise frameworks and centres of excellence to deliver simpler, stronger and more effective risk outcomes.

As Executive Manager – Financial Crimes, Fraud and Scams, you will lead the Profile, Governance & Strategy team within Business Banking’s Chief Controls Office. You will maintain the end-to-end view of Business Banking’s financial crime, fraud and scams risk profile and ensure regulatory obligations are understood, assessed and effectively governed.

Reporting to the COE Lead - Financial Crimes Fraud Scams, you will be a senior Line 1 risk leader and trusted partner to the CCO leadership team. This role is accountable for the development and continuous improvement of Business Banking's financial crime, fraud and scams Line 1 governance framework, strategic roadmap and risk profile, ensuring the business is positioned to respond to an evolving regulatory and threat landscape.

On any given day, you will

• Lead and embed a consistent financial crime, fraud and scams risk framework and strategy across Business Banking.

• Maintain oversight of the end-to-end risk profile, including key risks, control effectiveness and emerging threats.

• Oversee significant regulatory reforms, including AML/CTF reforms, the Scams Prevention Framework and other emerging obligations.

• Lead financial crime risk assessments, including product and channel risk assessments.

• Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders on emerging typologies, regulatory developments and risk appetite.

• Deliver clear governance reporting and insights for senior executive forums.

• Build and lead a high-performing team focused on governance, strategy and financial crime risk excellence.

We’re looking for a senior leader who can operate strategically, influence at executive level and bring a practical, commercially minded approach to financial crime, fraud and scams risk management.

• Significant experience in financial crime, fraud and/or scams risk management within a complex financial services environment.

• Strong understanding of financial crime regulatory obligations, risk appetite, governance frameworks, controls and enterprise risk management.

• Proven capability leading risk strategy, governance initiatives, regulatory change implementation and continuous improvement.

• Experience delivering actionable insights and reporting for executives, governance forums and committees.

• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across business, risk, technology, legal and compliance teams.

• Experience in risk assessments, control design and testing, issue and incident management, thematic reviews and root cause analysis.

• Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and uplift capability in high-performing teams.
