Executive - Machine Engineer

Based at Bodywear, Biyagama

We are seeking proactive and results driven individual to join our Engineering team. The selected candidates will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and utilization of manufacturing machinery while driving continuous improvement, automation, and engineering excellence. This role involves supporting preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting technical issues, implementing process improvements, and contributing to productivity enhancement initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, analytical capabilities, and a passion for innovation within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying, evaluating, and implementing new technologies, machinery, and engineering solutions to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
• Support factory digitization and automation projects to improve manufacturing performance and process effectiveness.
• Ensure optimum utilization, reliability, and performance of sewing and non-sewing machinery to achieve operational targets.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to minimize downtime and improve machine availability.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machine-related issues through root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
• Monitor, inspect, calibrate, and maintain machinery to ensure compliance with quality, operational, and safety standards.
• Lead and support engineering improvement projects, machine modifications, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
• Develop and conduct technical training programs to strengthen the competencies of mechanics and machine operators.
• Maintain engineering documentation, maintenance records, spare parts inventory plans, and related reports.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while promoting a safe working culture.
• Support energy conservation, cost optimization, and sustainability initiatives within the engineering function.
• Assist in forecasting and budgeting for machinery, maintenance activities, spare parts, and capital investments.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, maintenance management systems, troubleshooting techniques, and reliability engineering principles.
• Sound understanding of preventive maintenance, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of factory safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, machine specifications, and engineering data.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop technical personnel and machine operators.
• Proficiency in engineering documentation, maintenance reporting, and data analysis.
• Strong initiative, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
