Job Description

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for maintenance planning, parts inventory, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance and selected project activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability, plant availability, assurance and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also supports project planning and document control to ensure efficient execution and proper governance of maintenance and project-related documentation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Plan and schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance by defining work scope, prioritising tasks, allocating resources, and aligning activities with plant operations.
  • CMMS Management: Manage CMMS work orders and maintenance performance by structuring and tracking jobs, defining resources, monitoring KPIs, analysing trends, and reporting to management.
  • Resource & Material Planning: Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, and spare parts by working with teams and suppliers to ensure timely availability and optimal inventory levels.
  • Shutdown & Major Maintenance Coordination: Plan and coordinate shutdowns and major maintenance by developing detailed schedules, managing critical activities, and ensuring alignment for safe and timely execution.
  • Project Planning Support: Support planning and execution of small to medium projects by managing schedules, tracking progress, controlling documents, and preparing reports and presentations.
  • Enforce PETRONAS Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Qualification:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5–8 years in maintenance planning within industrial/utility plants.
  • Exposure to project planning and coordination is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Able to interpret Process and Instrument Diagram (P&ID).
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and coordination capability.
  • Knowledge of maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, CM).
  • Familiarity with project management principles and documentation control.
  • Experienced in executing maintenance activities for Gas Turbine Generators, Chillers, Boilers, Mechanical Rotating and Static Equipment, Cooling Water System, Cooling Towers, Drainage System, HVAC System, Centrifugal Pumps, Ventilation System, Piping System, Unfired Pressure Vessels, Water/ Diesel Tanks, Chemical Treatment System, Emergency Diesel Generators.
    Experienced in managing large Steam Absorption Chillers, Direct Fired Chiller and Electrical Chillers.
