Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily housekeeping, laundry, and public area operations for the hotel
  • Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, heart of house areas, storage rooms, and exterior housekeeping spaces are consistently maintained to Hilton and Shaner standards
  • Ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures within the Housekeeping Department
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all Shaner Hotels, Hilton, and departmental policies and procedures while ensuring the housekeeping team is informed and compliant as well
  • Lead, motivate, coach, train, and develop housekeeping team members while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
  • Hire, onboard, and train new associates while ensuring all required company and brand training is completed timely and accurately
  • Conduct daily room inspections and cleanliness walkthroughs to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently while ensuring proper service recovery and guest satisfaction
  • Review daily occupancy levels, arrivals, departures, group business, stayovers, and special requests to proactively plan staffing and operational needs
  • Prepare weekly schedules based on occupancy forecasts, labor expectations, productivity goals, and business demand
  • Adjust schedules throughout the week as business levels fluctuate while maintaining productivity and service standards
  • Manage employee performance including coaching, counseling, recognition, disciplinary action, and accountability conversations when necessary
  • Ensure room attendants, laundry attendants, and housepersons are meeting productivity and cleanliness expectations daily
  • Monitor housekeeping labor closely and assist in managing departmental payroll and annual budget expectations
  • Maintain the Housekeeping Department annual budget and assist in controlling departmental expenses
  • Ensure all inventories, ordering, and housekeeping supply levels are maintained appropriately
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and organization of all assigned areas
  • Maintain knowledge of all cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, chemical handling requirements, and equipment usage
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed properly by the housekeeping team
  • Complete all required monthly reporting, inventories, inspections, and departmental documentation accurately and on time
  • Assist team members with housekeeping, laundry, and houseperson duties whenever operationally necessary
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Maintenance, and Hotel Leadership to ensure overall hotel operational success
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, varied shifts, and high demand event periods
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of housekeeping management experience within the hospitality industry required
  • Previous Hilton experience preferred
  • Previous extended stay hotel experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hotel environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while maintaining operational efficiency and cleanliness standards
  • Strong understanding of housekeeping productivity, scheduling, inspections, labor management, and guest satisfaction standards
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, chemical handling, and housekeeping equipment required
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and departmental guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, associates, and leadership teams
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
