The maintenance engineer with core responsibility of filling & packing area is responsible to ensure low cost, highly efficient and sustained operational performance of the lines. He also ensures high asset reliability by applying appropriate maintenance strategy together with an effective spare parts inventory and management.
The role has a shared responsibility with production, QA, production planning, application group and industrial services functions that ensures operational execution speed and sustainable manufacturing excellence.
Ensure the achievement of department objectives and monitor product cost, quality, and timeliness as per production / delivery plan.
Ensure all production / filling-packing lines have high operational performance and process capability to deliver products as per established standards.
Plan and coordinate all maintenance activities viz. routine, periodic maintenance and CIP / shutdown activities.
Establish and implement a maintenance strategy and schedule supported by all functions thereby ensuring availability of lines / plant (production and infrastructure) to ensure optimum utilisation of assets and resources.
Ensure product and process compliance in line with Nestlé policies, standards and legal requirements.
Ensure work place safety and effective communication of Safety, Health and Environment to all team members.
Conduct inspection / audits and investigate incidents to close gaps.
Ensure good and hygienic engineering practices are applied at all times.
Coach / train, with related parties, the technicians and operators in preventive / routine maintenance activities and machinery operations.
Ensure that CDM is fully integrated with factory operations and all operators / technicians understand and practice CDM.
Measure, analyse and improve line performance by using available systems / tools (AMM etc.)
Measure, analyse and control maintenance & improvement (M&I) budget and spare parts inventory by using available system / tools (NEE).
Contribute to establishing energy and line standards.
Review process failures and execute continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities, accessing proposals and timely implementation.
Support projects (team) by setting up / installation of new equipment, test run and ensuring readiness for mass production. Wherever required, participate in standard audits (HACCP, FSMS, GMP etc.)
Ensure that the equipment history, damage code and root cause analysis are completed correctly.
Coach and mentor, the members of team to increase productivity and efficiency by participating in daily meetings, reviewing actions.
Train the team on safety and environmental requirements and procedures.
Review and feedback to direct reports of their performance against their principal accountabilities and behavioural competencies so as to continually improve individual and team operational and/or technical capability in line with site skills and behavioural requirements.
Communicate information flows from the management to the direct reportees and vice versa.
a. Maintenance of filling & packing machines as core responsibility along with process machinery.
b. Maintenance budget preparation & day to day management with strong tracking with preventive mindset
c. Spares parts management for the plant, Maintenance planning & scheduling
d. Engineering contractual management including development & Day to day people management of internal & external
e. Problem solving techniques (GSTD, BDA, DMAIC etc,)
f. Project management skills will be an added advantage
g. Exposure to primary packing (horizontal flow wrapper, vertical form fills sealing machine, can/Jar filling machines, product auto feeding system into the flow wrappers), secondary packing (auto case packing, top loading, or front loading, COBOT or Robo based auto pick & place machines into grey boxes or shippers)
h. Knowledge on various type coding: Contact, Inkjet, Laser coders from reputed vendors like DOMINO, IMAJE, VIDEOJET etc.
