Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a rare chance to step into a newly created Senior Divisional Manager role in the Bay of Plenty and help shape what great looks like from day one. Working closely with a new Regional Manager who has recently joined from within Fulton Hogan, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong momentum, influence how the role evolves, and make a real mark on the region’s future direction.

You’ll lead a division that delivers good work safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. That means owning the divisional part of the regional business plan across financial performance, safety, people leadership, forward work, operational delivery and customer relationships. If you’re motivated by growth, fresh leadership and the chance to help shape something new, this is a role worth a proper look.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the division to deliver safe, high-quality work for customers, on time and within budget.
  • Drive financial performance, business planning, budgets, capex and divisional targets.
  • Oversee pricing, tendering and securing forward work to maintain a strong pipeline and support growth.
  • Build strong customer, subcontractor and supplier relationships while managing commercial risk and opportunity.
  • Lead and develop diverse teams, setting clear expectations and backing people to perform, grow and do good work every day.
  • Build a team where people work hard, have each other’s backs, and enjoy a bit of fun along the way.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

  • A high-energy, people-focused leader who brings others along for the ride and knows how to get the best out of a team.
  • Strong relationship skills and the confidence to sit across the table from clients, understand what matters to them, and negotiate smart commercial outcomes.
  • A strong contracting background, including a solid working understanding of NZS3910 and how to use good contracting discipline to protect the business and create opportunity.
  • A sharp eye for opportunity — always looking for better ways to win work, improve margin, grow the pipeline and add value for our customers.
  • A relentless focus on health, safety and quality. Good work only counts when it is done safely and done properly the first time.
  • Financial management experience and the ability to stay close to performance, lead against business plans, budgets and divisional targets, and step in early when support, direction or a firm nudge is needed.
  • Someone who enjoys the people side of work, brings a bit of energy to the day, and is happy to have a laugh along the way while still getting the job done.
  • Strong knowledge of NZTA and/or local authority technical specifications, along with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • A BE, NZCE or significant industry experience, plus a current Class 1 driver licence.

He pai te mahi, he pai ngā painga | Good work, good benefits

At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You’ll have access to:

  • Medical insurance and Life insurance after the eligibility period.
  • KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%.
  • Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.
  • Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.
  • This role also comes with a company vehicle with private use.

Ko wai mātou | About us

At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is more than what we deliver. It’s how we show up, how we treat each other and how we keep moving forward together. We’re not big on layers or ego. We’re friendly and practical, and we back good people to do their best work.

We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means high expectations, honest conversations, strong support and a team environment where ideas matter more than titles. In the Bay of Plenty, this is an exciting time to join. With new regional leadership in place and a newly created role, you’ll be part of shaping what comes next, not just maintaining what already exists.

Me pēhea te tono | How to apply

If you’re an experienced leader who wants to help shape a division, work closely with fresh regional leadership, and build a strong future in the Bay of Plenty, we’d love to hear from you.
