As we continue to scale, market access plays a critical role in ensuring that innovation translates into real-world patient access. The Executive Director of Market Access Strategy and Pricing will:

  • Lead all U.S. Market Access strategy efforts, establishing the long-term vision for pricing, reimbursement, and payor strategy across the entire portfolio of Mirum’s current and future assets.
  • Shape the evolving access landscape by anticipating payer, policy, and competitive trends and developing innovative, insight-driven strategies that strengthen market leadership, expand patient access, and drive sustainable business growth.

This role demands a proven leader who’s capable of working in highly cross functional teams and can maintain an enterprise mindset while partnering across Commercial, Medical, Patient Services, Finance/Accounting, Legal/Compliance, and Supply Chain to shape and deliver meaningful access strategies. The ideal candidate blends strategic vision with operational experience, bringing deep payer expertise and a passion for rare disease patients.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic lead for all payor strategy development resulting in coverage expansion, policy optimization, and quality of access (QOA) improvements across commercial and government payers for inline and pipeline assets.
  • Lead, mentor and build a high-performing team of market access strategy and pricing professionals, championing a culture that represents Mirum’s values.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, influencing portfolio investment decisions, launch sequencing, business development evaluations, and long-range corporate strategy through the lens of market access and payer dynamics.
  • Anticipates future healthcare policy, reimbursement, and competitive changes, proactively positioning the organization to mitigate risk while identifying new opportunities for growth and patient access.
  • Champions an integrated market access strategy by aligning Medical, Marketing, Med Affairs, Commercial Operations, Commercial Analytics, Patient Services and Payer Accounts.
  • Represents the company externally with executive presence at industry forums, advisory boards, and strategic partner engagements, elevating the organization's leadership in market access innovation.
  • Proactively and regularly collaborates with the US Head of Payer Accounts and the Head of Patient Services on strategic account planning and escalation for high-impact access challenges
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, including government price reporting, 340B ceiling prices and all government calculation requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education /Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced financial degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in market access, payer marketing, or reimbursement, with rare disease experience strongly preferred
  • Proven success in launching and optimizing access for specialty/rare disease therapies, including pricing strategy
  • Experience in translating complex payer and policy changes into actionable commercial strategies, including MFN and IRA
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Successful experience in leading and developing a team within the market access function
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership in small biotech/rare disease companies with agile working environments a plus
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills
  • Resilient and adaptable and proven experience in navigating complex payer dynamics with confidence

The salary range for this position is $295,000 to $330,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to; skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location. Please note that the required compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits unless otherwise provided.

Mirum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the treatment of rare diseases affecting children and adults. Mirum has three approved medications: LIVMARLI® (maralixibat), CHOLBAM® (cholic acid) capsules, and CTEXLI™ (chenodiol) tablets.

LIVMARLI, an IBAT inhibitor, is approved for the treatment of two rare liver diseases affecting children and adults. It is approved for the treatment of cholestatic pruritus in patients with Alagille syndrome in the U.S. (three months and older), in Europe (two months and older), and in other regions globally. It is also approved in the U.S. in cholestatic pruritus in PFIC patients 12 months of age and older; in Europe, it is approved for patients with PFIC three months of age and older. Mirum is also initiating the Phase 3 EXPAND study, a label expansion opportunity for LIVMARLI in additional settings of cholestatic pruritus. CHOLBAM is FDA-approved for the treatment of bile acid synthesis disorders due to single enzyme deficiencies and adjunctive treatment of peroxisomal disorders in patients who show signs or symptoms of liver disease. CTEXLI is FDA-approved for the treatment of cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) in adults.

Mirum's late-stage pipeline includes two investigational treatments for several rare diseases. Volixibat, an IBAT inhibitor, is being evaluated in two potentially registrational studies including the Phase 2 VISTAS study for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and Phase 2b VANTAGE study for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Volixibat has been granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation for the treatment of cholestatic pruritus in patients with PBC. Mirum is also planning for a Phase 2 study evaluating MRM-3379, a PDE4D inhibitor for the treatment of Fragile X syndrome, a rare genetic neurocognitive disorder.
