The Public Service Commission (PSC) is the central human resource department for the Alberta Public Service (APS), providing expert advice, strategic leadership and stewardship, and direct delivery of human resources (HR) services to support the attraction and retention of qualified employees to meet the needs of Albertans.

The HR Client Service Delivery Division provides a full suite of strategic and operational human resource (HR) services to department clients, including talent acquisition, HR advisory, workforce planning, organizational design, employee relations, occupational health and safety, HR data management and HR business processes continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, HR Client Service Delivery, the Executive Director, Talent Acquisition provides enterprise leadership for workforce supply, talent acquisition, and strategic talent attraction strategies, and develops partnerships to strengthen talent pipelines and position the Alberta Public Service (APS) to meet priorities and deliver services. The Executive Director provides strategic direction towards innovative models of service delivery and champions bold approaches that are client-centered, responsive, and solution-focused; ensuring consistent, and high-quality talent acquisition across government. Leading a branch of approximately 150 FTEs who enable APS organizational capability and service delivery outcomes, the Executive Director oversees talent acquisition strategy and services for all non-executive roles across the APS.
This role requires a strategic and innovative leader with extensive experience overseeing complex programs and advising executive leadership. The successful candidate has a proven ability to drive transformational change, implement technology-enabled solutions, and leverage workforce analytics to enhance organizational performance. They possess a strong understanding of emerging HR, and talent acquisition and strategic workforce trends, including the opportunities, risks, and ethical considerations associated with digital technologies and automation.
A highly influential executive, the successful candidate demonstrates exceptional political acumen, sound judgment, agility and strong problem-solving abilities. With deep knowledge of public sector legislation and employment frameworks, they provide strategic guidance while ensuring compliance and managing risk. Recognized for building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation and engagement, they combine strong leadership, communication, and resource management skills to navigate complex stakeholder environment and deliver results aligned with organizational goals.
A degree in a related discipline is preferred.
$5,896.65 - $7,749.28biweekly ($153,902– 202.256 annually)
