GENERAL JOB FUNCTION
To be responsible for the overall management of the Residence halls and Residence Life Programs. Manages the housing function within the University’s established policies.
- STANDARD EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- To possess the understanding of and the commitment to the University Mission.
- Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of university policies, procedures, and short and long-term strategic plans to enhance student housing operations.  Responsible in maintaining Residential Life Rules and Regulations as established by the University.
- Research, develop and implement marketing strategies, gathering information from comparable universities regarding housing to ensure current trends are utilized.  Staying informed about emerging trends and working to implement these trends into program goals.
- Responsible for fulfilling requests for housing information and assignment.  Working closely with other departments, such as Admissions, in providing timely Residence Life materials to incoming & potential students of CU.
- Responsible for the collection, deposit, maintenance, and accurate record keeping of the room reservation fee and the room deposit.
- Responsible for the assignment of dorm rooms, key control, and occupancy of resident students.  Responsible for communications to students the rules and regulations of Residence Life at CU.  Ensuring all required paperwork is completed and maintained in the Office of Residential Life.
- Responsible for verifying, calculating, and post room and meal plan charges to student accounts in a timely manner, using the University network system.
- Responsible for planning and implementing dorm openings, providing leadership as students check-in, and dorm closings, providing leadership as students complete the check-out procedures.  Responsible for room deposit refunds or additional damage payments and/or sanctions.
- Train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate the Resident Directors and Resident Assistants. Planning and leading regular staff meetings.
- To participate in the University Orientation sessions for new students, providing leadership in matters of Residence Life.
- Coordinate and lead regular townhall meetings, providing written follow-up to the Vice President of Administration/Vice President for Student Affairs.
- Provide emergency procedures training to Residence Life staff and residents, crisis management, and assistance when necessary.
- Develop, organize, and facilitate programming for resident students that promotes and helps develop community on campus, education, and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible for collecting the summer camp dates and camp details from the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Affairs. Responsible for oversight of camps while on campus. Responsible for camp check-in and check-out procedures and will be on call 24 hours a day to provide support in the areas of maintenance, housekeeping, IT, and other issues that may arise.
- To produce regular or special request reports relating to student housing as requested by the Vice President for Facilities.
- Perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned and/or requested by the Vice President for Facilities
- To participate in weekly and/or bi-weekly staff meetings with the Vice President for Facilities.
- To participate in and complete a Performance Management Process, following the guidelines set forth by the University.
- DECISION MAKING AND MANAGEMENT
Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure-oriented operations.
Position supervises the Head Residents and assists in the supervision of the Resident Assistants.
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:              Bachelor’s Degree
One (1) year work experience in related field.
Preferred:              Bachelor’s degree in student services.
Two (2) years work experience in related field.
Additional work experience/education may be substituted for education/years of work experience.
